Bonnieux Provence

There are some fine houses in Bonnieux dating back to the 16th century, and the village's relative opulence dates back to this period when several bishops chose to live in Bonnieux when this area belonged to the Popes.

Available for holiday let, this secluded luxury villa on the edge of Bonnieux, Provence has, according to local folklore, an intriguing connection to the Popes at Avignon.

Bonnieux was a fortified village as early as 972 AD originally starting off lower down the hill then gradually moving up the hill in the 13th century as the inhabitants barricaded themselves against invaders and attackers.

Today Bonnieux has retained its charm with much of it’s early architecture still in place.
